Text: 2 Kings 19:5-19

Tonight I want to look at this entire chapter. There is too much here to preach around. I want to present this information and then I want to call you to the altar. I will try to be brief and to the point tonight.

1. King Hezekiah receives a message from the King of Assyria that defies him and his God. The king mocks his faith and trust that God will be able to keep him in this time of testing. The King of Assyria tells Hezekiah that he needs to surrender to him because the armies of Assyria are too much ort him.

2. (verse 6-7)The King receives a word from Isaiah the prophet that says don’t be disturbed. Don’t worry. I will take care of this problem

a. God is telling you the same thing. Don’t worry about the mocking of neither your family nor your enemy. You are going to make it.

1 Pet. 5:6

6Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:

1 Pet. 5:7

7Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

Matt. 11:28

28Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Matt. 11:29

29Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

Matt. 11:30

30For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

3. (Verse 10-13) The enemy tries to deceive Hezekiah not to trust in the Lord. The enemy wants you to stop trusting and to stop believing God. Even though we know that we should trust and that we have always trusted, but for some reason the enemy starts out trying to stop us from trusting.

Prov. 3:5

5Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

Prov. 3:6

6In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

4. (Verse 14-19) Hezekiah takes it to the Lord and spreads it out before the Lord. Let me encourage you tonight to come with your problems and spread them out before the Lord. Bring your letters of bad news and your checkbooks and spread them out before the Lord. Bring the bad report from the doctor and lay it our before the Lord and give it to him and let his power take over your problem.

5. (Verse 20-28) The Lord speaks against the enemy. A word has already been spoken over our enemy. We are over-comers. We are victorious. God has destroyed the works of the enemy in your life. You will live and be at peace. You will walk in freedom.

6. (Verse 29-26) The Lord gives a word that he will protect his children and kill the enemy. In verse 35 the angel of the Lord goes in at night and kills 185,000 troops. And the King of Assyria was killed as he worship in a temple of his god.

God is going to protect you. He is going to go before you. Lay it out tonight and let God give you the strength and the courage that you need to survive. God is going to win the battle for you. He is fighting for your cause. Come lay it out tonight. Come surrender everything to him. Lay it our and give it to God. He will give you the strength that you need to arise in hope.
